As a Volunteer at the Green Mountains Visitor Information Centre (GMVIC), these are the words you will often repeat and it sets the tone for the voyage of discovery that visitors to Green Mountains are about to embark.

Green Mountains Visitor Information Centre (GMVIC)
Your role as a volunteer is to:
– Welcome visitors to the Lamington National Park;
– Assist in the rangers absence, by being the face of QPWS;
– Advise visitors on the walking tracks that best suit their needs;
– Encourage an understanding of the environment in Lamington National Park;
– Expand visitors knowledge of flora and fauna;
– Utilise your own skills and refer to resource pamphlets, books, videos etc;
– Share your own passion for the natural wonders in the park.

All smiles behind the counter
Our volunteers are provided with:
– QPWS Accreditation training;
– Orientation days alongside an experienced volunteer;
– A volunteer shirt and badge;
– Reimbursement for some costs such as a meal or fuel;
– Accommodation at the Barracks when available.

Rangers love volunteers
At GMNHA, our volunteers:
– expand and enhance their own knowledge and skills in the outdoor environment;
– are rostered on duty for a minimum of 4 days per year at the GMVIC;
– complete Volunteer Engagement and a Volunteer Work Agreement forms;
– adhere to the 5 principles of the QPWS Code of Conduct
